When I grow up, I want to be a...

 Tonight we got updated, "What I want to be when I grow up" from the kids...  Here they are:

Sam: Not sure (He's tends towards the perfectionist side of life.  Doesn't want to commit too early.)

Andrew: An archeologist - A pastor - An artist (He said that way he'll be rich.  I hate to break his heart.)

Levi: A cowboy - A worker cowboy - A guitar player - a karate guy

As parents some of the most important things we pray for is that they'll grow up and love Jesus, live faithfully and passionately.  

My prayer for parents out there is that you would know that God has not called you to determine your child's destiny, nor has He given you the choice to pick what raw material your child comes with.  He has called you to train your child to embrace the unique shape that God has for her/him.  

It's a big job, but they never said parenting was for wimps.  You can do it, by the grace of God.

The Handyman Series

Today was an awesome day.  Not only did I get to spend an extra “Family Day” at home, I exercised my Handyman Skills.  You might be thinking, “Handy Man Skills, is this Jon Cobler we’re talking about?”  To quiet the skeptics I would like to share, in a step-by-step manner, exactly what I did.  For those of you “less Handy” guys out there, you can consider this a step-by-step guide to being awesome.

Sunday Evening Thoughts

I'm all settled in for the night, thinking about a great day.  Here are some of my highlights:

• Thank you for the email and Facebook messages!  I love that our church embraces a challenge to be more like Jesus.
• If we all get serious about ending this year with INTEGRITY, we'll be available for even greater things in the year to come.
• Over 170 couples at the Couples Conference getting restored, strengthened and challenged to be AWESOME husbands and wives.
• Jesus will take all of us from being "followers" to being "FOLLOWERS" (you had to be there).  The process is called Discipleship.
• We saw LOTS of men and woman come to Jesus!  That is a miracle!!!
• I really thought the Seahawks would pull off a win today, I was pulling for them... Sorry guys.
• Some people want the benefits of Jesus without the cost of discipleship.
• Jesus will keep asking, "Will you trust My word?" and "Will you trust My way?"
• QUESTIONS: do you have a time and place set aside where you can "check in" on your discipleship journey?
• What roles do you play? Mine primary roles are; Disciple, Husband, Father, Leader, Pastor, Friend, Brother, Son... Yours?
• GREAT JOB to everyone who stepped up to serve EXTRA this weekend because so many couples were at the Conference.
• I have two days off in a row!  It's a mini staycation...
• DO NOT MISS THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY SERVICE THIS COMING WEEKEND!

My Confession...

Ok, this isn't as bad as the title sounds, but since you've read this much, don't stop.
